Welcome to the Fernandina Beach High School Band Program—home of the Mighty Marching Pirates!

We are proud to offer a well-rounded, award-winning music experience rooted in excellence, character, and tradition.

Under the direction of Mr. Tyler Odom, our band program is built to grow musicianship, leadership, and lifelong friendships through performance opportunities both in and out of the classroom.

💡 What We Offer

Our program includes several ensembles and opportunities:

• Marching Band – The spirited face of Pirate Pride, performing at football games, local parades, and statewide competitions.
• Symphonic Band – Our primary concert ensemble, focused on tone, technique, and musical expression.
• Jazz Band ("Sailors of Swing") – An auditioned ensemble performing jazz, swing, and modern styles.
• Winter Guard – A visual performance group combining flags, dance, and showmanship in indoor competitions.

🏆 A Tradition of Excellence

We are proud to be a consistent top performer in regional and state events:

• Five consecutive “Straight Superior” ratings at FBA Marching Performance Assessments.
• Symphonic Band has earned superior ratings in five of the last six years.
• Sailors of Swing Jazz Ensemble has earned superior ratings for the past two years.
• Our Winter Guard recently competed at the FFCC Championships in Daytona Beach.
• Past trips include performances at the Smoky Mountain Music Festival in Gatlinburg, Disney's Sound track sessions, Disney's Main Street Parade, and special events like Jacksonville Icemen hockey games.
